Return & Refund Policy

Effective Date: 2026/07/17

Welcome to Take-Tech ("we", "our", or "us"). We strive to provide quality products and excellent customer service. This Return & Refund Policy explains how returns, exchanges, refunds, and warranty claims are handled for purchases made through https://take-tech.co.za.

By placing an order, you agree to the terms outlined below.

1. Return Eligibility

You may request a return if:

  • You received the incorrect product.
  • Your product arrived damaged.
  • The product is defective.
  • The product is covered under the manufacturer's warranty.
  • You are entitled to return the product under the Consumer Protection Act of South Africa.

To qualify for a return, where applicable, the product should:

  • Be returned in its original packaging.
  • Include all accessories, manuals, cables and included components.
  • Be accompanied by proof of purchase.
  • Not show signs of misuse, abuse or accidental damage.

Products returned without all original contents may be subject to inspection and may not qualify for a full refund or exchange.

2. Change of Mind Returns

If you simply change your mind after receiving your order, you may request a return within 7 days of delivery, provided that:

  • The product is unopened.
  • The factory seals remain intact.
  • The product is unused.
  • The packaging is undamaged and in resalable condition.

Approved change-of-mind returns may be subject to a reasonable restocking fee where permitted by law.

Shipping charges are non-refundable.

Products specially ordered, custom-built, configured-to-order, software licences, digital products, gift cards, and clearance items cannot be returned unless they are defective or required by law.

3. Faulty or Defective Products

If your product develops a fault during the applicable warranty period:

  1. Contact our support team before returning the item.
  2. We will provide instructions for the return process.
  3. The product will undergo technical inspection and testing.
  4. If the fault is confirmed and covered under warranty, we will arrange one of the following:
    • Repair;
    • Replacement;
    • Store credit; or
    • Refund, where applicable.

No warranty claim can be approved before the inspection process has been completed.

Testing may determine that:

  • the product is functioning correctly;
  • the fault resulted from misuse or accidental damage;
  • the warranty has been voided by physical damage, liquid damage, modification or improper installation.

In these cases, warranty service may be declined.

4. Return Authorisation

To ensure efficient processing, every return requires prior approval from Take-Tech.

Returns sent without prior authorisation may be refused or delayed.

When requesting a return, please provide:

  • Order number
  • Product details
  • Description of the fault or reason for return
  • Photos or videos where applicable

Additional information may be requested if required.

5. Inspection Process

All returned products are inspected by qualified technicians.

Approval of a return, repair, replacement or refund is subject to the outcome of this inspection.

Inspection times may vary depending on the product and manufacturer.

Estimated turnaround times are provided for guidance only and are not guaranteed.

6. Refunds

Where a refund is approved, it will be processed using the original payment method whenever possible.

Refunds are typically processed within 5-10 business days after approval.

Bank processing times may vary.

Shipping charges are only refunded where required under applicable law or where the incorrect product was supplied.

7. Exchanges

Where stock is available, we may replace the product with:

  • the same product;
  • an equivalent product; or
  • another product of equal value, with any price difference settled accordingly.

If replacement stock is unavailable, a refund or store credit may be offered.

8. Products Not Eligible for Return

Unless required by law, we cannot accept returns for:

  • Software licences
  • Digital downloads
  • Gift cards
  • Special-order products
  • Custom-built or configured products
  • Products damaged through misuse
  • Products missing major accessories
  • Products with broken manufacturer seals (where applicable for change-of-mind returns)

9. Return Shipping

Unless the return is due to our error or a confirmed warranty defect, customers are responsible for the cost of returning products.

We recommend using a courier service that provides tracking and insurance.

Take-Tech is not responsible for products lost or damaged while being returned.

10. Warranty

Most products include the manufacturer's warranty.

Warranty periods differ between manufacturers and product categories.

Warranty coverage does not include:

  • Accidental damage
  • Physical damage
  • Liquid damage
  • Incorrect installation
  • Power surges
  • Unauthorized modifications
  • Normal wear and tear

Warranty terms are determined by the manufacturer.

11. Consumer Protection Act

Nothing contained in this policy limits or excludes any rights available to consumers under the South African Consumer Protection Act, 68 of 2008.

Where the CPA grants consumers greater protection than this policy, the CPA shall prevail.

12. Contact Us

If you need assistance with a return or warranty claim, please contact us before sending any products.

My recommendation

Since you're building a professional online electronics store, I'd also create the following policies so they all match in style and comply with South African law:

  1. Terms & Conditions
  2. Privacy Policy (POPIA compliant)
  3. Delivery & Shipping Policy
  4. Return & Refund Policy
  5. Warranty Policy
  6. Cookie Policy
  7. Payment Policy
  8. PAIA Manual (required for South African businesses)

I can write all of these so they look like they were drafted by a professional e-commerce lawyer, are branded for Take-Tech, while reflecting how your business actually operates.
